Default Help with insignias/runes

Generally, what runes/insignias would you rune your monk with?
Wanderer's? Disciple's? Anchorite's? maybe Stalwart?
i'm looking for a both PvE and PvP aspect of this.
thanks in advance!

There is not an answer for this... First of all, what is your main purpose as a monk? Are you a healer, or do you smite? And then theres some more questions to be answered. Are you short of energy alot, get some runes of attunement. Are you short on health alot, get some runes of Vigor. Etc.

Both are important. I'll give you the reasons why.

1. Disciples (extra armor when under condition). This is the main armor for monk in GvG because your almost always under a condition especially when your running WoH/prot with draw conditions.

So when a caster has no armor bonuses at all, basically he/she will take 100% of the damage. When you run full disciples your taking about 77% percent of the damage.

With a +5AL weapon, the damage gets reduced to 71%

Add in a shield with +8AL and you get a reduction to 61%

Add a +10AL vs something mod, and you get down to 51% for that type of damage.

if the monk got a q8/16 or q7/15 shield he's even packing more armor. So basically you are able to cut any damage you take by half or possibly more if he/she is speccing 8pts to tactics to take full advantage of the shield.

2. For survivor insignia it's useful against spike damage and heavy degen. However the meta keeps changing. There are many skills that are armor ignoring. So you would use either survivor or disciples depending on the meta.

For pve, I would say survivor is the way to go. It's not always a guarantee you will be under a condition since the AI targets characters who have the least health. Also in HM, the AI got jacked up attributes roughly around 20 and bosses deal double damage. with low health your basically asking to get killed. That's why I think Survivor is better in pve. I might need some more opinion for this.

Yinsang, monks don't need extra energy assuming hes not spamming his skills. There's only so much a monk can do. The rest depends on the team and how they position themselves to mitigate damage which most people fail at doing in both pve and pvp.

so you're saying disciple's and survivor?
should i balance them 50/50 or what?
and i was just talking generally, healing/prots/smite, doesnt matter.
im fine on energy.... i just needed to focus on what insignias to put on, class specific wise.

thanks for the responses aswell

If you only have 1 set of armor, I'd get survivor on all of it. Personally I have a few sets for different setups/builds/areas, and I use just about everything tbh but the survivor is the 'go to' set thats generally good for everything

As far as runes, +1 Healing on head (so +2 healing), a +1 prot, +1 DF, a Vitae and a vigor is what I use.

Anchorite's because Seed of Life and Aegis have long cooldowns and you're almost always going to have another skill on recharge.
You don't need Survivor's.

I won't claim myself as a Monk expert but for my part in PVE aspect I would say;
-Full radiant insignias on armor
-superior vigor on gloves if you can afford it ( Reason for putting a vigor on gloves is you can swap armor for other builds while keep the vigor, for instance a pair of chaos gloves)
-superior XY <Attribute> rune on head
-rest on attunement

+1 minor rune depends on your build..

Hope this helps, my 2cent.

Blessed in PvE (0.8409x damage compared to 60), Disciple's in PvP unless you have a foul-feast necro.

If you have "Save Yourselves!" spam in the team, then use Survivor's, as +10 armor on top of +100 isn't going to be much help. At 160 armor you take 0.1768x damage, so just pack a -2 enchanted shield with 0 spec to pack 0.1539x damage.
